TRANSIT UPDATE
SUN, MERCURY & MARS IN GEMINI
Ahhhh Gemini. Like Scorpio, it’s one of those signs that everyone has an opinion on even if they know just a little about astrology. But what is it really all about?
Most of us are familiar with the qualities of playfulness, curiosity, intelligence and reluctance to commit associated with Gemini. These have to do with the sign’s rulership by Mercury which excels at creativity, communication and neutrality. But there is far more complexity to this sign which can range from ferocity, intellectual obsessiveness and violence to great Lightworking and healing talents.
For a deeper understanding we can look at one of the symbols of this sign which is a set of twins: a female twin holding a lute (stringed instrument) and a male holding a mace (club). This reveals a dual nature: one lighthearted and fun-loving, the other determined to get its opinion out even if it involves symbolically bashing it into someone’s head. This is why Geminis make amazing attorneys, academics, researchers, humanitarians and debaters. They can fall in love with an idea, rip it apart intellectually and can argue it to death.
Unraveling this sign further we can look into the 3 nakshatras (lunar constellations) that span here. Mrigasira – the gentle Wandering Star – is associated with Gemini’s softer more charming qualities. Ardra is the star that is intellectually vigorous to the point of criticism and decisiveness destructiveness. Punarvasu represents the Returning of the Light, or the freshness and healing that comes after the storm of Ardra.
For the next few weeks we’re going to have an amazing opportunity to experience first-hand the power, delight and unpredictability of the sign of the twins with 3 planets (Sun, Mercury and Mars) holding hands in Sidereal Gemini June 18 to July 2.
What are your experiences with Geminis? Love ’em or hate ’em? Somewhere in between? (That would be very Gemini of you.) Let me know in the comments!
