FULL MOON – July 8, 2017
FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS | PURVA ASHADA
This month’s full moon falls in the Star of Invincibility, Purva Ashada. This is a passionate and fearless nakshatra that is powerfully invigorating and purifying. It is also strong in debate and hates to lose. Be very careful of getting into arguments this weekend and do everything you can to avoid them, even if you are clearly in the right. With the full moon tightly conjunct Pluto events could escalate almost instantly into explosiveness and even violence. This is exacerbated by Mercury’s transit through Cancer where efficient communication becomes difficult due to emotions muddying the waters. The combustion of Mars with the Sun which opposes the full moon is yet another indicator of frustration and sudden outbursts, however Mars’ position provides reassurance that ultimately this will be for the best as Mars is in auspicious Punarvasu Nakshatra which brings us back to the light, symbolizing a return to consciousness.
The two week cycle when the moon is waning is the time allowing change in our lives by letting go of what no longer serves us. Pluto’s influence supports major psychological transformations between now and the next new moon, and can bring an element of dark, intense eroticism to romantic relationships. Not everyone is comfortable with the depth and force of Pluto’s brutal honesty, as it is disruptive and demands we be courageous even when it hurts. However the more honest we are with ourselves the more empowered we are to make the right choices on our paths. When we confront our pain head-on we stand in our courage and power.
Release from psychological and emotional bondage by surrendering to faith and hope is a definite potential with this full moon. Use it wisely and exercise your power to forgive yourself and others to get the most power out of this cycle.
The Hindu festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated annually on this full moon, and strengthens our connection to teachers, gurus and the belief systems that provide our context for inspiration.
Gratitude and honoring those who came before us on Guru Purnima 2017
