Where do we seek nourishment? Is the nourishment we receive pure & healthy? Does it support & grow our true self?  Surprise events giving us fresh perspectives on these questions are popping up in the days & weeks surrounding tonight’s potent & emotional lunar eclipse in the Moon’s home sign of Sidereal Cancer | Pushya Nakshatra. 

Pushya is the most grounded & emotionally stable of Cancer’s lunar mansions & is considered highly auspicious. In addition to its classic association w nourishment (its symbol is the cow’s udder) Pushya also nudges us to express our wisdom & creativity. Depending on personal chart placements this eclipse could invite in a ‘bolt of lightning’ personal realization, or a creative or spiritual download. If Jupiter or 5th house lord dasha is running, there could even be a surprise pregnancy. We could also enjoy a surge of romantic love in an existing relationship or if single w someone new.

For those of us who like to dive deep into eclipse energy & embrace the wild ride of soul’s evolution, this is an awesome full moon eclipse – Blood, Wolf or whatever we choose to call it.

The astrological theme for 2019 is evolutionary purification.

One face of this eclipse is profoundly cleansing as we may be faced with a personal truth or truths that we cannot deny. Uranus, Lord of Uncompromising Truth, Shake-Ups & Freedom, is tightly squaring both the Sun (our highest truth & soul’s mission) & Moon (our emotional patterns, perceptions, creativity & emotional EQ). Some of us could experience a surprise event, followed by a healthy splash of ‘I refuse to take this anymore, I’m done!’. The unconditional love of Pushya is applied to ourselves. 

When we suddenly wake up with a new awareness to our personal truth & values, the areas of life or people that are not supportive of these stand out in sharp relief. There’s an energy now of refining or rejecting former values & allowing in something completely new & unexpected. This something new will involve expansion & learning new skills, & it’s advised to seek out a mentor to help guide you in this new endeavor. For example, you could be an accountant & realize that what you really want to do is to own & operate a gourmet food truck! This is a random example, but consider being open to that random idea that comes out of nowhere & playing with it for a while. 

Another more initially challenging manifestation of this energy could be an unpleasant ‘A-ha’ moment where we realize that our efforts to keep the peace is seen by another as an invitation to attack & abuse, especially if we’re running the dasha of a node or luminary.

We have the opportunity to free up incredible stores of creative energy & joy that were locked into maintaining a toxic relationship, by severing ties w a toxic family member or someone in our inner circle. It is absolutely appropriate & healthy to refuse to be someone’s emotional piñata, to claim our dignity & self respect by saying ‘No more’, and to move on.

This aggressive cutting off could feel distasteful to some of us on a spiritual path, however when we look at nature which is a manifestation of spirit there is continual pruning to allow for the new & fresh to come in – we can see it most obviously in the cycles of the seasons.

We can of course choose to be as gracious as possible, moving on as appropriate, practicing healthy detachment or setting firmer boundaries so that our connection to self remains in tact. 

Overall, the creative potential is so high now – Jupiter’s trine is helping us create a broader more optimistic future in line with our dharma, our true purpose which is continually revealing itself. Uranus in Aries’ influence can have us courageously disregard traditional society’s judgements & expectations in favor of personal authenticity & freedom. 

The only person’s approval we need is our own. 

We all have some capacity to explore our receptiveness, discrimination & assimilation of nourishment. This eclipse calls in lessons around nurturing & growth at the ground level so that we can build healthy, non-toxic inner worlds & outer environments in line with higher spiritual truths.
