Welcome to the final new moon of 2022. This moon peaks 23 December, and completes the full moon cycle of 7 December [read about it here] which focused on recalibrating our expectations in light of new awareness.
This new moon continues the reality check vibe with some hope as we become more anchored in our vision of what we want our life to be. Creativity is a motivation now, the nuts and bolts kind that is guided and inspired by our vision, integrity and purpose.
We’re in the festive season, but this year it might feel disenchanting for some.
Sagittarius is an idealistic, big-picture sign, and Mula nakshatra embraces the fiery heart of the Galactic Center, the very source of creation. We could find ourselves questioning the moral and spiritual significance of at least one, likely more, area of life. After mid-January or May we can take steps to re-create this area of life to be more in alignment with what’s true to us. If we allow this process, this new moon can act as the door to a soul renewal which will allow for things to more easily click in place for what we’re creating.
Mula represents the tangled roots of our spiritual and ancestral karma. These manifest as old patterns that we repeat until we disrupt and transform them to make way for what we’re inspired to create. The process is like patiently weeding a garden so that after we can plant a kaleidoscope of flowers; or the disruptive clearing of land before we build a home on it.
When the path is clear. the Sagittarian archer who lights up when seeking and upholding its truth can aim its arrow (our consciousness and intentions) towards a future that’s more alive with vision, optimism and joy.
If we’re unclear on what feels true to us, the coming weeks are a perfect time to explore this if we feel called. There’s a deepening process in Mula which pulls for us to ask ourselves the deeper questions of life, the questions that when answered consciously ground us to the very foundations of who we are. The questions which if we don’t take the time to ask consciously, tend to be thrust upon us through harsh life events.
Who am I?
Where did I come from?
What am I doing here?
Where am I heading?
Taking some time to meditate and journal of these questions can yield new personal wisdom and release resources of pranic life-force.
The many planets conjunct and aspecting this new moon are pushing us to speed things up and get into some sort of action, which is a little at odds with these deeper, meditative questions.
We might be feeling the motivation of purpose-driven Sun, analytical Mercury, relationship-seeking Venus, and a somewhat frustrated retrograde Mars, its initiatory impulses and focus running a bit jagged. Impatient Rahu is also in the mix urging us to get on with doing what we think will make us happy.
Despite this push-pull energy many of us are inspired, determined and in action to move forward on something despite uneven progress. This is fine as long as alignment with higher principles is in place and if we’re flexible regarding deadlines and outcomes. Otherwise, we won’t be satisfied and will just feel drained. Fear-based ambition and drive for success will not cut it in the year ahead, as Saturn is preparing to move out of Capricorn and into Aquarius’ more philosophical, egalitarian frame of mind on 17 January.
If we traditionally start of the Near Year with resolutions, this planetary cycle suggests we hold off for a few weeks on starting something new. Rather, enjoy life and put some thought and energy into habits or circumstances that can be transformed or removed to support moving through the year ahead feeling at peace and renewed.
