TRANSIT UPDATE
PLANETARY WAR: MERCURY & MARS IN GEMINI
There’s a certain electricity in the air, can you feel it? From June 27-29, we can generate sparks of inspiration or conversely the strike that sets off an explosion.
What’s the source of this dynamic? It’s war – a planetary war – between Mercury & Mars. (A planetary war occurs when 2 planets occupy the same degree and sign). Mercury – creative & fun, fleet of foot, ruler of speech, communication & discrimination – is up against Mars who is principled, impatient, very Point A to Point B, and tends to flare up when things don’t go his way.
For the remainder of this week we might find ourselves facing some clash or synthesis of these quick energies. For example, imagine you’re focused on a project involving writing, negotiating or research that needs to be completed to a certain standard. The goal is to get out asap. But then a technology glitch kicks in or someone doesn’t pull her weight. Seemingly out of nowhere frustration flares, voices are raised & words are said that are more destructive than constructive. And you’re all usually such nice people … This planetary alignment can also signal traffic accidents and even road rage.
The good news is that if a situation boils over both parties will be able to let it go and move on quickly.
Used consciously and intelligently Mercury and Mars in the same degree can make us creative with our speech in a positive way. Communication can be direct, powerful and to the point and the right words can come quickly. For example, you can successfully drive your point home quite naturally; just try to keep it light and notice if you or someone around you is being a bit pushy. A technical writing project might go more easily than a creative one, and Mars’ talent at keeping us on-point can reduce dithering away hours online while doing ‘research’.
Another manifestation of this aspect is feeling too much energy or antsy. If this is the case get your body into motion! Channel the overload into doing something physical that requires skill like yoga or martial arts. Or blow off steam with a run, doing harm to none.
This is a quick transit and is unlikely to cause long-term problems unless it’s acting as a trigger for something in your personal astrology chart.
